Whether you are a recreational boater, hunter or fisherman, being safe on the water is what it's all about. In the menu bar to the left, the links described below lead to resources to help make you smarter, better and safer when on the water or the ice.

  • Brochures: Here, you'll find downloadable brochures on boating, water and ice safety.
  • * DNR Boating: The Michigan Department of Natural Resources' Boating in Michigan web page. This page contains information on Michigan boating regulations, dredging activities in Michigan harbors, locations of DNR launch ramps, slips, and harbor information, among other things. 

  • Float Plan Central: If you're going out for an extended cruise on the Great Lakes or ocean, be sure to file a float plan before you leave. Float Plan Central is the Auxiliary's web site for information and access to the USCG's Float Plan; a state-of-the-art lifesaving device used by search and rescue personnel to assist in reducing the search area in order to locate you in the shortest amount of time possible. It is also the first and only float plan that guides and directs the holder of your float plan on what to do via the exclusive Boating Emergency Guide.
  • Forms: Forms to help make you a safer boater and to ensure a trouble-free day on the water. Here's you'll find things like float plans, etc.

  • * Navigational Charts: View and print free detailed navigational charts for the Great Lakes area prepared by NOAA, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. Effective April 13, 2014, the federal government will no longer use traditional printing methods to print paper nautical charts. Improved paper nautical charts, updated to the time of printing, will be available from print-on-demand chart sellers.

  • Safe Boating Statistics:  A synopsis of boating safety information collected by the U.S. Coast Guard, with a link to their complete annual report on boating safety.

  • * USCG Boating Safety: The U.S. Coast Guard's Boating Safety Resource Center web site.

  • Tutorials: Tutorial videos and presentations that will help make you a better boater and to be safer when on the water.
